How Bad is the Wisconsin Football Program without Bret Bielema

It seemed at one point everyone wanted to run off Bret Bielema but now we must ask ourselves how much is this program in shambles with his departure. The fact is Paul Chryst might be back by the end of the week but that won't replace Bielema as he truly did have a quality that got the Badgers 3 consecutive Big Ten titles, one that Chryst and almost every other coach don't have. Bielema like Barry Alvarez could spot this quality in others just like he did with Dave Doeren. Bielema also always seemed to have a plan looking for the future which is why he hired Ash knowing Doeren was gone. The problem is this year has been about Bielema leaving and so the University of Wisconsin has been without a plan for our football team for a whole year, here is hoping that we can recover.

The good news is we have a team that has enough talent coming back in 2013 to compete so a new coach will have talent to operate with. The bad news is it will be these players second major change in 2 years and you have to assume that it will be to an absolutely completely new style of coaching staff as all of the assisstant coaches with the exception of maybe a Eddie Faulkner are likely to follow Bielema or not be retained. To go back to the good news for a second the Badgers have a fairly good recruiting class coming in but the question is will they all come to Wisconsin or will some of the top players go searching for the SEC with Bielema.

Let us hope this isn't the beginning of the end for a Badger dynasty but the start of the Badgers getting over the National Title hurdle.
