Wisconsin-Illinois Player of the Game: Jordan Taylor wins the award for this game in a landslide as he was a significant factor in keeping the Badgers in the game and then some with Leuer and Hughes out for extended periods of time with foul trouble. Taylor finished with 20 points on 8 of 17 shooting and added 8 rebounds, no turnovers and was the key factor in Demetri McCamey scoring only 11 points. Hopefully this game is a sign of things to come as March moves along for Taylor, he has really upped his game this year however consistency has still alluded him for games at a time.
Runner-up Player of the Game: This goes to Jon Leuer who a lot of you probably thought should have gotten player of the game but he needs to do a better job of staying out of foul trouble, he had foul trouble problems before the injury and clearly hasn't gotten it taken care of. On offense Leuer had a truly outstanding game scoring 20 points on 8 of 13 shooting in a variety of ways and in just 26 minutes of play, he also added two assists and 4 rebounds.
Tough Game Award: Jason Bohannon has been winning most of our player of the game awards, however he had an awful game against Illinois going 1 of 6 from the field and 1 of 2 from the foul line for just 4 points. To make matters worse JBo had 2 of the Badgers 3 turnovers and played probably the worst defense in the game loosing his man on a couple of occasions giving up wide open three looks. Jason is a senior leader and given the way he has played over the second half of the Big Ten season we fully expect him to come back strong in the next game.
