Wisconsin vs Illinois: Fast Thoughts

Well the height mismatch we talked about turned out to be the deciding factor in the game. We were worried if Tisdale doesn't have to guard Nankivil because he stays closer to the hoop and our dribble penetration doesn't work as well. The Badgers couldn't get any runners in this game and their dribble penetration became less and less effective as the game went on. Evans went in at the 5:00 minute mark and Tisdale was on him sort of him but like I said he didn't even really guard him and instead had all day to setup to contest a Trevon drive. Evans played only 4 minutes in this game and Bruiser didn't play likely for the same reason I gave, it would have put them at a disadvantage on offense.  The problem is the Badgers didn't get the benefit of Evans on defense.  The Badgers also got out rebounded 32-25 a stat that would could have been a little closer if one of them could have played more over Jarmusz. If you look at the box score only it looks like the Badgers had a poor shooting night but many of those shots came over the last minute or so and were in rushed desperation, the key is the Badgers couldn't get any high percentage runners and the kick-outs worked less and less as the game went along. Nice game though by Illinois.
