UW Badger Basketball:Why Tim Jarmusz starts

We hear it all the time why does Tim Jarmusz start, or the variation which is why does Tim Jarmusz get on the court. The answer is that he is capable of playing solid defense, the other team has to guard him on the offensive end of the floor, and because he doesn't make as many stupid mistakes as the young players. The fact that Tim Jarmusz doesn't make stupid mistakes is the reason he starts the game, both Evans and Wilson have a tendency to be overly aggressive and commit dumb fouls or turnovers that if they were starting would not help the team get off to a solid start.
If Ryan Evans had to be guarded on offense the way Jarmusz does, and stopped playing out of control at times leading to dumb fouls and offensive turnovers he would start and Jarmusz would have his minutes further reduced. Bo Ryan isn't playing favorites he is playing who he needs to play at the right time of the game. As we have said the reason why Evans barely played against Illinois is because the Illini had to at least guard Jarmusz on offense and they were slacking off of Evans, that said we actually think in the second half Bo should have made the switch to Evans for rebounding and a jolt of energy. Now some of you are going to ask why doesn't Wilson start, well he doesn't play defense the same way that Jarmusz does, is prone to more mistakes, and is 3" shorter. Let Bo do his job, he is always looking to make the team better and that is why Wilson has started to play more and Mike B. got in the game for 18 minutes against Indiana.
