Hawaii on the return to the 29, runner found a little daylight but go tripped up.
Hawaii on a quick short throw that goes for 12 yards after the runner finds a nice seam.
Another short throw that goes for 9, the Badgers looked to have this one stopped but the Badgers tacklers bit on a fake cut.
Badgers get a little pressure on the QB for the first time and an incomplete pass.
Third and one and Watt brings the pressure that leads to an incomplete improvised pass.
The Aussie punter gets only 21 yards on the punt, no return.

Clay through another hole for 7, Clay falling forward on that one and he beats up the linebacker.
Clay pounding forward for the first down.
Monte Ball on the carry and he gashes for 7 or 8, call it 8.
Spencer Smith the safety makes a great play beating the Badger sweep play for the Badgers first loss of the drive. Third and 5.
Tolzien floats it to Toon and that was just pretty, ball all the way to the 2 yard line. Nice coverage great ball, Toon never broke stride.
Clay dives into the end zone for a touchdown and Clay lost the ball as he hit the turf.
Ground caused the fumble, Clay hit the field after the jump with the ball and his hand first and that is how the fumble happened.

Badger Score 7 - Hawaii 0

Hawaii 2nd Drive
On the kickoff the Hawaii returner reverses field and after a number of moves gets to the 27.
The Hawaii QB scrambles steps up in the pocket and hits a short pass up the middle and the receiver gets all the way to near the 50. Looked like he was almost past the line of scrimmage but no complaints coming.
Another short pass and the Badgers first tackler misses and it is a 13 yard gain.
Hawaii at the 38. Watt with the pressure and the QB steps up and gets back to the line.
The QB throws into double coverage and Valai picks it off, only Badgers with a shot at that ball.

Wisconsin 2nd Drive
Clay back in and he gains only 2 but does hand out some punishment.
Ball on the carry and he gets only 1, holding call to boot and the Badgers are going backwards.
Konz is not going to play today due to imflamation in his lungs, Frederick in for the start at center.
On the second down redo pass complete for about 15 so the Badgers are 3rd and 5.
Tolzien all day and he goes up the middle and Toon gets tied up with the cornerback, no flag as the ball was not catchable as Toon and Tolzien weren't on the same page as what the route was.
Punt is a decent one down to the 30 with no return yards after again a lot of shake and bake by the returner. It would be nice to see a fumble on one of these returns with all the loose footwork and ball carrying.

Hawaii 3rd Drive
Hawaii to start at their 30.
Badgers need to get a good pass rush to disrupt this passing game.
Another short throw and this time the receiver meets a swarm of Badgers, 1 yard gain.
To much time to throw, but the Hawaii QB throws to the middle and that could have been another pick.
Badgers get a good pass rush but Hawaii could have had a game changer as Fenulus got beat deep, poor route running for Hawaii though and the ball falls long.
Punt down to the 20 no return, flag on the play. Illegal substitution on Hawaii for a 5 yard penalty, Hawaii is going to punt over. This punt to the 33 and the Badgers went for the punt block leaving no blocking for Gilreath, no return.

Badgers 3rd Drive
Play action complete over the middle to Toon, down to the 49. Tolzien seems pretty dialed in early.
Monte Ball slowly picks his way to the outside and picks up 4 yards.
Badgers on the 44, Tolzien over the middle to Kendricks and Kendricks like a pinball gains 11.
Tolzien got thrown down hard as he waited as long as he could to throw, first real pressure on the day.
Tolzien to Kendricks again and that was a great throw for 23 yards.
Gilreath on the end around and Hawaii apparently didn't see that on the film, because they weren't sure what was going on touchdown Badgers.
(Clay was not in on that drive, you have to wonder if his fumble in the end zone might be the reason.)

Badger Score 14 - Hawaii 0

Hawaii 4th Drive
On the kickoff Welsh is just a little off, OK not just a little off he shanked the heck out of it to the right sideline ball on the 40. Have not seen that from Welsh before, that was brutal.
Hawaii QB throws quick and hard, maybe just a little to hard for the receiver to hang onto.
Hawaii tries maybe their first run play and Watt gives no reason to try the run again, 3rd and 11.
Watt again on the pressure and he sacks the Hawaii QB in pancake fashion.
(That was the best Badger defense so far today)

Wisconsin 4th Drive
Badgers to start on the 20.
Clay up the middle and he will not go down until after he gets 7, he pushed off a lot of arm tackles on that run Hawaii might want to put their whole body in their if they want to stop him.

End of the 1st Quarter
Badgers back to work at their 27.
Gilreath on the run and he fumbles after picking up the first down and gives it to Hawaii. Gilreath sure looked to be down before he fumbles, this will get reviewed but it might be hard to overturn. Gilreath came down hard with his hand on the ball and that is how it came loose, 1 hand on the ball and hitting the ground hard with the ball first is a sure fire way to not hang on.
PAC 10 crew is working this game and they reverse the call, the official seemed pretty disappointed by the reversal not sure why.
After all of that 1st and 10 Wisconsin.
Clay keeping the feet moving for 6.
Badgers in motion give to Clay and he comes up just short of the first down, as in two chain links short.
Clay not touched before he picks up the first down, he picks up 4.
Clay gets the edge after a nice block, he picks up 9 and 9/10th.
Hopefully no Badgers get hurt in this game as Hawaii plays very physical after the play is over.
Badgers play action and he goes deep over the middle to Gilreath and it will be first and goal at the 1. Really that was a bad thrown ball that Gilreath helped Tolzien out on.
Clay on the run and he lost yards as it looked like he was very concerned with protecting the ball.
Tolzien on the keeper for the TD.

Score Wisconsin 21 - Hawaii 0

Hawaii 5th Drive

Another one of those 4 yard passes and that goes for 9.

Hawaii at the 50, Watt running the Hawaii QB down and he throws it right at him, Watt can't hang on. Foul for hands to the face on the Badgers gives Hawaii 15 yards.
Watt comes across and says he was drawn but apparently the refs didn't see it and he gets called for the penalty. Hawaii tries a run play and picks up the first down and the Hawaii thundersticks go wild in the stands.
Hawaii at the Badgers 22. Hawaii fakes a run and Schofield wasn't fooled and sacks the QB, Badgers needed that.
Hawaii receiver drops a short pass, it is now 3rd and 17.
Hawaii QB threw it right at Gilbert and if he caught it he would have scored.
Field goal is good from 45, the ball seems to travel pretty well in the Hawaii air.

Score Wisconsin 21 - Hawaii 3

Wisconsin 5th Drive
Kickoff from the 6 and Gilreath does an excellent job of keeping his balance, he hits the outside and takes it to midfield.
Tolzien has all day to find an open Monte Ball and he goes for a big game, but the officials found holding on the Badgers somewhere. Garrett was caught on the holding down field, good call.
Clay picking his way through traffic for 4 yards, it would be nice to seem him come out the other end on one of these.
Tolzien to Turner for a first down, nice throw and catch.
Clay rumbling forward for 4.
Play action and Tolzien was pressured and threw up a questionable ball incomplete.
Hawaii brought a blitz and Tolzien was sacked, bad sack he came in untouched.

Almost picked off over the middle, diving try by Margo.
QB on the run and another diving attempt at a pick by Smith, punt coming.
Gilreath catches at the 10 and he does a nice job of getting to the 20.

Wisconsin 6th Drive

Ball cuts back and that was a special run for 17 yards.
Ball cuts back just before taking it all the way outside, gain of 5.
Hawaii timeout.
Ball hit at the line but still goes for 3.
Clay through for the touchdown, so the Badgers go to work on the ground exclusivley on that drive as they try to run the clock out before half.
Welch misses the extra point and he is having a very brutal night.

Score Wisconsin 27 - Hawaii 3

Hawaii 7th Drive
Squib kick and Hawaii handles the ball like a hot potato before falling on it.
Hawaii on their 21: 44 seconds on the clock.
Watt on the sack again and you think they would call it a half now.
Hawaii on the run for a first down, monster holding down field on that one doesn't get called.
Hawaii decides to call timeout now. Hawaii runs again and the clock runs out.

End of the First Half

Clay has 111 yards in the first half in addition to two touchdowns and Hawaii just can't slow down the Badgers offense. Tolzien looks very sharp today as he has hit Gilreath and Toon for long balls and Turner and Kendricks for first downs. On the defensive side of the ball Hawaii has done some damage on short throws with yards after the catch but J.J. Watt has been a beast so far chasing the Hawaii QB all over the field.

Second Half

Wisconsin 1st Drive
Gilreath finds a seam and takes it all the way to the Hawaii 45.
Tolzien on the play fake doesn't fool anybody and has to allude two tackles but runs for 3.
Clay runs outside for 5.
Clay gets stopped for no gain, and the Badgers will have to decide what to do on fourth down at the 35.
Badgers are punting, that is one sad call to have to make. Ball downed at the 8.
(Badgers wasted great field position on this drive)

Hawaii 1st Drive
Hawaii back to pass and the QB wasn't on target as he was looking for an 11 yard route on the right sidelines.
Shovel pass on second down gains 12.
Henry has good coverage on the long pass, incomplete.
Jeff Stehle comes free and puts a lick on the QB, ball comes out incomplete.
Nice pass and catch for the first down over the middle. Boreland falls down on the pass rush otherwise thats a big sack.
Hawaii QB is a Badger sandwich on the first down sack. Three Badgers there Schofield led the charge.
Run play goes for 0 gain, Schofield making some early noise in the second half again.
Hawaii has all day to throw but can't find anybody, pass incomplete Schofield on the late pressure.

First and ten at the 40.
Ball taken down in the backfield and the Badgers have not been going anywhere on first down of late.
Badgers run a screen for a few yards, Hawaii play well on defense right now. Almost another late hit on the QB on that play.
Quick throw to Garrett for a first down.
Offsides Wisconsin, looks like they caught Appleton flinching.
Clay keeps the legs moving and picks up 5.
Clay hesitates through the line and picks up 15.
You can just see the difference of talent between Clay and the other backs in hitting a hole.
(A skinny Santa guy just rushed onto the field and is quickly found and stopped by security, unfortunately ESPN didn't see fit to show the whole chase and catch)
Clay rumbling for 7.
Clay jumping over people and racing 15 yards for his third TD on the day.
Boreland kicked that extra point, as Welch has been brutal.
(Wisconsin burned about 6 minutes of clock on that drive, the big statement of the drive is the difference in yardage gained when Clay is running and when Ball or Brown are carrying the ball. Monte Ball is going to be another special Badger back but Clay has talent that makes it so clear what the difference between a true freshman and a top talent back is)

Score Wisconsin 34 - Hawaii 3

Hawaii 2nd Drive
Hawaii has a good return up the sideline to the 48.
Running play and a quick tackle by Boreland.
Ball thrown behind the wide receiver.
Badgers showing a complex blitz look and Boreland gets in for the 16 yard sack, he just hog tied him.
Big booming punt and the Badgers will start at the 6.

Wisconsin 3rd Drive

Ball again almost lost more yardage but gets back to the first line of scrimmage.
Brown on a draw and he picks up the first down as Hawaii didn't see it coming.
Ball loses a lot of yardage, 8 yards on that play as he went sideways very early on in that run.

(That was one long clock draining drive by the Badgers, it only got 3 points but time running off is the Badgers friend now)

Badger Score 37 - Hawaii 3

Hawaii 3rd Drive
Hawaii starts on the 20, short pass picks up 6.
Pass incomplete, flag flies and it is a facemask on Hawaii.
Pass complete over the middle for a first down, QB had a lot of time on that play.
Pass is just a little long or that would have been a big hitter for a TD, pressure late on the QB might have thrown it off a little.
Throw to the sidelines and the receiver is just a little out of bounds.
Big gain on the catch as the receiver reverses the field. Badgers line might be wearing down in the heat or something as their pass rush has tapered off.
Big gain on a shovel pass all the way inside the 5.
Hawaii keeping it on the ground for no gain.
Again staying on the ground and they maybe got two feet.
Touchdown Hawaii on the throw to the back of the end zone, the QB had to much time after faking the pitch.
Flag after the play on Hawaii on unsportsman like conduct.

Score Wisconsin 37 - Hawaii 10

Wisconsin 4th Drive
Hawaii kicking from the 15 because of the penalty and they recover the kick, flag on the play though and it is off sides Hawaii and they will now be kicking from very deep. It looks like it was Gilbert on the poor fielding on the pooch kick.
Hawaii kicking from the 10 now. Caught at the 42 and Hawaii is getting very chippy now.
Hawaii was off side on the kick off again and they will tack on 5 yards to the end of the run.
Tolzien and Clay are going to sit out the last 4:45.
Ball busts through the line and all the way for the touchdown, and that was quick taking advantage of the short field.
Boreland kicks through the extra point, that is right Boreland again.

Hawaii 4th Drive
Hawaii on the return only gets to the 11.
Hawaii run for a loss of 4.

Sherer gets welcomed to the game with a sack.
Third and goal from the 15.
Brown runs it down to the 11.
Badgers running the clock down to 1:34 and then calls timeout.
Badgers going to go for it on fourth down and Sherer runs it into the end zone on a flip over to get his memorable moment of his senior year.
(Nice to see Sherer get his moment, you don't like to run up the score but hopefully Hawaii will understand when they learn the story. Boreland again with the extra point and he now has 3 points in the game)

Score Wisconsin 51 - Hawaii 10

Hawaii 5th Drive
Hawaii going to start on the 36.
Hawaii fumbles and the Badgers pick it up and run with it. Gilbert picks it up. Late penalty they talk about for a while and there is a late hit on the run and a hold on tackling the ball carrier without the ball. You don't advise big guys like Gilbert to try and scoop the ball and run with it but it works for him.
After all of that Hawaii gets the ball back because of the hold, which is a joke.
Hawaii on another run for 9.
Hawaii runs for a first down, and thats a ball game.

Final Score Badgers 51 - Hawaii 10

Final Quick Thoughts
Well this game wasn't that close and the score reflects that, the game had a Santa, some great Hawaii tattoo art on the lineman and a whole lot of Badgers offense. Tolzien had a nice game passing the ball when he needed to which wasn't that often as Clay had his way most of the time. Ball got a lot of carries on the day as well and did a pretty good job but his cutting and patience just aren't at Clay's level. On defense the Badgers gave up a pretty good number of short pass plays in the 5 to 9 yard range but were able to get off the field for the most part on third down. Watt had a heck of a game against Hawaii rushing the QB and causing havoc when Hawaii remembered that they are allowed to run the ball. Boreland had a pretty quite day despite one nice sack but he did score 3 points as he got the chance to kick three extra point tries. All in all the Badgers go to the islands and take care of business and rebound from that tough Northwestern game.
