The UW Badgers were looking pretty good versus the number 2 ranked U-Conn Huskies midway through the first half. The shots from beyond the arc were falling and they were up four at one point. Then U-Conn switched to a full court press defense that they did not abandon untill the final wistle sounded. The defensive switch to full court press completely destroyed the Badgers. The press led to the Huskies getting easy baskets which got them back into the game and were the difference makers in extending the lead and then breaking the game open. The Badgers ended up losing to U-Conn 76-57. On a positive not the Badgers played the Huskies competively almost the whole game with the exception of the mistakes against the press. In addition the Badgers limited tournament MVP Hasheem Thabeet to 9 points, which given his 7'-3" frame is a positive for the Badgers young frontcourt players.
