Badgers Still Have a Really Big Axe

The UW Badgers retained the Paul Bunyans Axe as they defeated the Gophers at home by a final score of 35-32. While all the ABC TV anouncers could come up with is that the game turned on a dime in the second half with the Badgers putting on a dominating performance, I will try to explain it as simply as I can mainly they stopped turning the ball over. Every time in the first half the Badgers had things going there way they started turning the ball over. By the way hopefully Kyle Jefferson is OK after that illegal hit that saw him leave the game in the ambulance.
The second half turn around for the Badgers was the best coaching job of the season for Brett Bielama. The victory also should help quite Badgers fans for this seasonn calling for his removal. Personally I think the Badgers do need to look at the balance of there coaching staff as I feel there are not enough older experienced coaches to act as a settling influence for the roster and the coaching staff.
Finally as the season is winding down and no Rose Bowl in sight a quick look to next spring has Dustin Sherer and Curt Phillips in intense battle for the starting QB job in 2009. Sherer also looks to be getting a big head start with his improving solid play, and at times nice touch on the ball. It will be interesting to see who is picked, I think part of the decision should be is an evaluation of the receiving talent if they do not feel the receivers are strong you go with Phillips for his running ability alone.
